BlackBerry Tips and Tricks
As a part of Concrete Software's monthly news letter we include a new tip each month to make running your BlackBerry more enjoyable. As a quick and easy reference here is a compiled list of the tips:
Here is a hint on how to use some shortcuts to information pertaining to your BlackBerry device:
- To display your PIN number type "mypin" and press the space key in any text field (for example in an SMS text message).
- To display your phone number type "mynumber".
- To display the version of BlackBerry Device you are running type "myver".
- To display your signature type "sig".
- To display your User ID type "usrid".

Here is a tip on how to quickly move application icons around on the applications screen.
- If not on the applications screen, press the BlackBerry button to navigate to it.
- Highlight the application icon you wish to move.
- Hold down the Alt key, click the trackball/scroll wheel and select "move".
- Scroll to new position and drop the icon by clicking the trackball/scroll wheel.

Here is a quick guide to the LED indicators on your BlackBerry. One thing to note is that some applications change these lights, so the descriptions below are what the colors normally mean:
Red - a communication is waiting. This could be a new call missed, email, etc.
Blue - is an indication that there is an active connection via bluetooth.
Green - is an indication that you are connected to a network.
Yellow - indicates that you are running out of battery.

Having trouble enabling sound on any of your BlackBerry applications? Try going to Options --> Applications --> select desired application --> Menu Button --> Edit Permissions, and Set Interactions to "Allow."

To quickly switch to another program on your BlackBerry hold the Alt key and press the Escape button. Continue to hold the Alt key and select a program. Release the Alt key to switch to that program.

The most common problem reported installing games is an error during install saying, "No additional applications designed for your device were found." If you get this error, usually you need the latest BlackBerry Desktop Manager (4.3) installed. You can get it here.
