Windows Mobile Tips and Tricks

As a part of Concrete Software's monthly news letter we include a new tip each month to make running your Windows Mobile device more enjoyable. As a quick and easy reference here is a compiled list of the tips:

Here are a couple of call function shortcuts that you may find useful when talking on your Windows Mobile device:
 Put a call on hold: While in a call, press Send (the green button). That will put the call on hold. Do it again to start the call back up.
 Switch to/from speakerphone: While in a call, press and hold Send (the green button) to switch to speakerphone. Press and hold it again to switch back.

Device batteries can wear down over time, but you can do several things to make the battery in your device last longer. One of them is to adjust your power management settings.
 Choose Start=>Settings=>System tab=>Power
 Choose the Advanced tab.
 Select the check box for each condition where you want the device to turn off automatically, then select the time interval.

If you're thinking of upgrading your PC to Windows Vista, you will no longer be able to synchronize your device to your computer using Microsoft ActiveSync. Make sure to get a copy of The Windows Mobile Device Center for Windows Vista, which enables you to set up new partnerships, synchronize content and manage music, pictures and video with Windows Mobile devices (Windows Mobile 2003 or later). To download Windows Mobile Device Center, click here.

Confused whether you have a Professional, Standard, or Classic Windows device? If you have a Windows Mobile device that is a phone and has a touch screen it is Professional (previously Pocket PC). If it is a mobile phone without a touch screen it is Standard (previously Smartphone), and if it is not a mobile phone it is Classic (previously Pocket PC as well).
